The 1983 Annual is included in the Timeflight/Arc of Infinity DVD release.
Finished reading the first story Danger Down Below:
Pretty good story with the Fifth Doctor and Tegan with Nyssa making a brief appearance at the end.
Very interesting the danger that is found down below of the title. |

The God Machine:
Very good story in which Nyssa and Tegan are absent for most of it.
Very intriguing seeing the Doctor discovering what the God machine of the title is all about. |

The Armageddon Crysalis:
Another good story with a very menacing monster and the way the Doctor defeats it is just pure genius.
Very well done. |

On the Planet Isopterus:
Fourth story from the 1983 Annual but this one is in comic strip form.
Very good story involving termites.
Very good how the device the Doctor uses at the beginning was a pretext for its use in the main part of the story.
The story has quite an amusing ending. |

Isopterus? Could that be in the Isop Galaxy - where Boekind existed and, perhaps more relevantly, the planet Vortis can be found. In the Doctor Who Annual 1966, the Zarbi were compared to both ants and termites. |

That is a good theory.
The Haven:
The Doctor, Nyssa and Tegan arrive on a planet that looks like paradise but not all as it seems.
Quite eerie on the revelation that this story brings.
The character of Carnak sure is sinister. |

The Penalty:
Most of the story takes place in the Doctor's mind as he has contracted a fever. Very intense seeing what the Doctor is going through.
The Penalty of the title is explained at the end.
Very well written. |

Night Flight to Nowhere:
Final story of the 1983 Annual.
This is the story that Time-Flight should have been because like that TV story it features the Fifth Doctor, Nyssa, Tegan, The Master and Heathrow Airport.
This is a cracking story and it would have made an excellent ending to season 19 over Time-Flight.
As much as I liked this story I detect one problem - this was written between Time-Flight & The King's Demons, the Fifth Doctor's TV encounters with the Master, so presumably it takes between those two stories. However the dialogue from the latter TV story indicates that he hasn't seen the Master since the former TV story.
Still, Night Flight to Nowhere is an excellent story. |
