What if since Mickey will return by the end of the series. What if as Rose and the others return to the paralel Earth at the end, Mickey is the last one to try to leave but is stopped as the void closes. And since Mickey is beleived to be dead or missing (or whatever) and opening the void can cause damage, what if since Mickey has no where to go he travels with the Doctor and goes on for a series or two.
