I think this is a good idea to unveil the First Law of DW PR:
'Deny, Deny, Deny...until you get hired!'
On a more serious note, this is very good news indeed.
Every highly-regarded,popular TV program needs to be refreshed every once in a while in order to prevent staleness.
For example, see Larry Gelbart's departure from M*A*S*H after the fourth year and Aaron Sorkin's departure from The West Wing (although that was reasons unrelated to the actual program).
With Steven Moffat, the BBC Drama grand pooh-bahs have made sure that the series is run by somebody who knows what it is all about.
Now, if we just could get this nonsense with the knitting patterns sorted out... |

Ahaha, fandom has been speculating about this for maybe two years... and yet it still surprised and excited me. And this news just before his two-parter too. They must have a lot of confidence in it if they're announcing it in this two-week hype-fest.
I'm a bit disappointed at Russell's mention of now being a viewer, though; I'm rather hoping that means of the other episodes, because I really would like to see him contribute a script a series at the very least. I'm sure he could write fantastically wonderful stuff, especially if only given one story to really hone in on. |

It's been rumoured for a long time, but the rumours have seemed definitive in recent months. It also ties in with rumours that the 'four specials only' year was an attempt to let either or both Russell T Davies or David Tennant some time to pursue other projects rather than leaving... obviously unsuccessful in Russell's case.
My main concern is whether Steven Moffat's magic will be spread too thin (as Russell's appears to have been, writing many and being heavily involved in all episodes each year), but only time will answer that.
Best of luck to both Russell and Steven on their new endeavours - known and yet-to-be announced! |

This is the best news since it was announced Stephen Fry was taking over from David Tennant as the 11th doctor.... well, we can all dream, can't we?
But in all seriousness, I'm over the moon. I know I'm not the only fan to believe Russell's no scriptwriter, and while I really appreciate the good work he did reviving the series and overseeing it, his contributions turned stale by the end of series 2 and right now the show seems stuck in a creative rut. Fresh blood is needed, and soon - and I couldn't imagine anyone better to give it a new injection of unique weirdness than the genius behind Blink. |

I concur!
Moffat has written some of the best episodes of the new DW, and I can't wait to be rid of Russel's seemingly compulsive desire to add sexual tension to the Doctor/Companion relationships, it's getting really old. RTD will always have a special place in DW fandom, but like Jim said, the show needs new blood. |

I think it's great....he's a brillant person....mind you....I think if Stephen Fry took over then that would be the ant's pants.....I saw him Bones and loved him....he was on Parky the other week with Larry Hagman and Cher and stole the show.....this man is the best....and I wish he'd write a DW story and ok....finishing my rant now....  |

I loved Blink and my daughter looks at statues in a whol different light now (she was 7 at the time) and I've played blink to some of her friends (heh heh heh  ) I loved Jekyll.....he did a great job on that....I'm over the moon |

 This is good news! I've liked all his contributions to DW, though I only watched Jekyll when I saw he was the writer, and was very disappointed with it. I blame the direction! |
