Found out that as a result of the ratings success of the pilot TV movie, the new Knight Rider has been picked up for series.

Thanks for the heads up on this TS. I got hold of the episode and it's been done reasonably well.

Rather than a full reboot, it's a continuation of sorts with the new hero being the son of Michael Knight, and the new Kitt is a Mustang rather than a Trans Am. David Hasselhof has a small cameo at the end of the episode.

TV Tonight reports that the Knight Rider TV movie that began the new series will be shown on Saturday September 27 9pm.

The series itself will begin next month not long after its US broadcast.

Last night 7 shown the Knight Rider TV movie and I can't help but think that the Knight Rider TV movie is like the Paul McGann Doctor Who TV movie. They both served as a backdoor pilot for a possible new series of an old show. Only difference was the Paul McGann TV movie did not lead to a Paul McGann Doctor Who TV series.

Is this new series aimed at adults, then, with such a late air time for the pilot? I seem to remember it as a family-styled show when it had The Hoff, and now it is going to be VERY M-rated. I expect it'll be on at 8:30pm, making it outside of children's viewing.

Wah. I missed the first quarter hour or so of it. I'm... less than thrilled with what we saw, and would have liked to see a Michelle rather than a Michael Jr behind the wheel of KITT.
