| I'm a very happy (and relieved) Crows fan (apologies to The Wheel). Yeah, you guys could quite easliy have got up and pinched it -especially if there were a couple more minutes. Burgoyne had a brilliant individual effort, although it was perhaps more of a lone hand than a team effort (Crows were a little more cohesive). Pickett would have made a difference -can't believe he got suspended. The collision was tough but fair -in keeping with Pickett's style of play. |

| yeah, Shaun Burgoyne was easily our best player, bt unfortunately he will mostly be remembered for that slip in the last quarter |

Byron Pickett is a grub, but to get suspended for what he did was garbage. As you say, the hit was tough, but fair.
Can not believe Collingwood supporters are talking about wanting to lose so we can get priority picks, and even wanting the scum and Hawthorn to win another game so we come last and get picks 1 and 2.
Why anyone would want to win the spoon is beyond me. I know there is next to no chance of Collingwood winning again this year after not even looking a chance to beat probably the worst Carlton side I've ever seen, but actually wanting it to happen is another matter.
Who else in here think the Dogs are finals bound? I reckon they're in for sure. |

yeah, theyve got a chance.
the draft is ruining the game though, never before would finishing last be a good thing.... |

I agree to a point. Without it the competition would not be as good, but those priority picks have to go. I can not believe there are Collingwood supporters who are happy for us to win the spoon from here and hope Hawthorn also get another win just so we can get picks 1 and 2. The shame associated with winning the spoon just doesn't seem to be there anymore. There is NO WAY I want the spoon at Collingwood. 2 is 2 more than should ever have come our way, and if Carlton win it this year they'll be on 2 as well which is about 100 less than I want to see the bastards win.
The draft needs to stay. The priority picks however HAVE to go, and there needs to be some other incentive at the end of the season for teams to keep winning, rather than putting in pissweak efforts against your arch enemy. The English Premier League give prize money to each placing, whether your team wins or comes last, and each spot up the ladder is worth considerably more than the one below it. Maybe they need to have something like that in place to avoid tanking for earlier draft picks. |

Good win against Brisbane on the weekend.
great game, really exciting like the Grand Final - we were never in a definite winning position until the end which made it great! |

How does it feel to have the umpires come out and admit they had something to do with St Kilda losing?
Apparently, Grant Thomas was going to be fined $20K, and the Saints were going to lose 4 premiership points over the criticism thing, but then the comments made by the maggots on the way home on the plane were made and overheard by quite a few sources and now they don't know what to do.
The umpires were alleged to have said something about "20 plus 4" and "now we know what victory feels like". Eddie McGuire and Tony Jones have said they heard the comments, and someone on the plane sitting behind the umpires has claimed to have recorded the conversation on his phone and is going to send it to 3AW today.
This one is going to be huge people. |

What a big week it has been in Footy
If the Umpire in question did say something like that, surely it was said in jest and then just blown way out of proportion. I just can't believe that any umpire (or player for that matter) would go out and deliberatly sabbotage a game. And as far as the Dockers/Saints game. The umpires were terrible, but they are in every game |

umpiring rarely decides a game. no matter how many free kicks awarded one way or another unless it is something in the last minute.
weve got to stay nice to the umpires or there wont be any in a couple of years. |

I agree. The umpires should not be noticed during a game. That's when you know they are doing a good job. |

| What I object to is the umpires being a protected species. On the ground, I completely agree that the umpries should be untouchable in EVERY sense of the word. Off the field though... you can say whatever you want within reason about any player or or any coach, whether it's good or bad, and that's just accepted as being part and parcel of footy. Umpiring though, if on the odd occasion they get it right, you can say such and such had a good game, but if they get it wrong, well that's different and you aren't allowed to say anything. I think that's wrong - their performance, just like anyone else's should be up for debate. How are they supposed to get better if they can't take genuine and constructive criticism and learn from their mistakes? |

| if i were under the sort of pressure a football crowd puts on you, id be making heaps of mistakes. the umpires do plenty of good things but unfortunately these are overshadowed by the mistakes they make. there only human after all. |

Yet to be convinced the bastards are human
I would have a lot less problem with them making mistakes if they admitted to them. Jeff Gieschen is a complete moron who needs to go and it can't happen too soon. He couldn't coach Richmond, and he can't coach umpires. I'd say he could make the tea for Demetriou and the other bigwigs at AFLHQ but he'd probably bugger that up as well. |

you beeeaaauty!!!!!
it was a great weekend but for the absence of Doctor Who.
Power - great win against the dockers and the port magpies in the SANFL had a great win against our traditional rivals, norwood! and both teams are in the finals - although we are playing the kangaroos on sunday afternoon away - and we have never beaten them away |

Expect Port to be out by halftime against the Kangas, but then again Port won the GF last year and I don't think too many of the current Kangas side have much finals experience so that may count against them.
Of course it didn't stop Collingwood at Footy Park in 2002
Damn shame Melbourne got up and knocked Footscray out. I can't stand the Dees. Don't really care who wins from here, but would rather it not be Sydney or Adelaide.
Despite West Coast's poor form coming in to the finals, I still think they'll be hard to beat for the flag. They'll lift for sure. I'll bet the Swans would rather be playing in Adelaide next week than Subi.
Really looking forward to seeing StK v Adelaide on the weekend. Reckon that's going to be a craker match |

I disagree.... I think you're every chance against Adelaide. Finals football is different to home and away matches, and Port were there last year whereas Adelaide were not and Neil Craig doesn't have the experience behind him. Add in the fact it's a derby match and I think it could go either way.
Stunned the Kangas fell apart like they did today. Swans were a bit unlucky on Friday. That Tyson Stenglien free was complete bollocks, but at the same time O'Loughlin missed a sitter in the third quarter and Kennelly and Goodes both missed shots on the run they should have nailed home so if any one of those went thru for a major the Swans would've won by a point. Great game though.
Swans should set up a clash with StK in 2 weeks and I'm tipping Port to beat Adelaide |
