I'm sure most people here are aware of the next few releases on DVD, being Survival, Robot, Timelash and then Time Flight/Arc of Infinity, but it seems the next one to be released after TF/AOI will be The Time Warrior, according to this link:

http://www.bbfc.co.uk/website/Classified.nsf/0/9C4952086F2C9743802572D80044154F?OpenDocument

I think this is fantastic news, as it's one of my favourite stories, and it's good that we're finally getting some Pertwee/SJS stories (or one, at least). It also seems that it'll be getting some improved SFX, which I find a bit odd, as I can recall little that needed improving in that department which might be improved by computers.

Awesome, I've been waiting for a good Pertwee story. Finally we have another.

"The Time Warrior" - First DW I ever saw in COLOUR!

Yes children, television was once, not only broadcast in B&W, but it had MONO sound, and there was no way to record it. (Which was illegal back then as well).

Just part 01 at a friends house. So strange. Had to wait a few years before I got to see it in colour again.

I'm looking forward to Survival

ah Timelash- the first classic WHO I ever saw and it scared me with its poor story even at 3 Laughing

No wonder it took the new series to make me a fan.

(Vengence on Varoz was a good Colin story though)

Seeing as we're getting a whole slew of 'Time' titled stories, does anyone else think we might be getting 'The Time Meddler' after the Key to Time set? And are there any other stories incorporating 'time' in the title?

I bought the US box set. Quiet good value at the time as I recall.

In a side by side comaprison there's not much difference in the picture quality between the NTSC and the digital fta PAL image broadcast recently by the ABC.

I'm quiet surprised by the number of DVD releases in australia that are NTSC, and which because most tv's switch automatically, most people don't realise they are watching.

Two Questions:
- Will the PAL edition be exactly the same as the NTSC edition? (No details yet).
- Will Roadshow release the NTSC or the PAL edition? (As with Remembrance).

Only time will tell I suppose.

Be careful what you ask for... it could be The Time Monster! Or The Invasion of Time, Trial of a Time Lord or Time and the Rani! Doctor Who stories with 'Time' in the title tend to be on the below side of average...

I've got no actual answers, but...

1) The US release of The Key to Time box set didn't see any cleaning up of the picture or audio, so it is possible that the new release will look and sound better than the US one - although there's always a question of exactly how much better.

2) As far as I know, the release of the NTSC Remembrance of the Daleks here was because the UK release accidentally didn't include one special effect (a Dalek ray blast) - this was later corrected. I seem to recall there was a difference in the soundtrack, with a song that could be included in the UK release not being available for a worldwide release - but I'm not 100% sure, though that would have been a second reason to use the American master in Australia.

Okay, the news about the Key to Time boxset is up at the BBC site here,
and indicates that there will be more special feature with the UK release. (Or, 'it come with the full extras it deserves', as the article so subtly puts it.)

We were supposed to get 'The Time Meddler' in March, but it was delayed as someone (presumably Maureen 'lives in France' O'Brien) was unavailable to record the commentary.

I'd love to have Time and the Rani. For two reasons. One, it's hilarious. So bad that it's side-splittingly funny. Two, if they have special features where people have to comment on what they think of it... well. Either downright abuse or careful avoidance, I think, will be what we'll see. Either way, funny.

Seems like Planet of Evil after the Key to Time set.

Which seems like a whole heap of Tom.

Davros Boxset:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/news/cult/news/drwho/2007/09/25/49095.shtml

This DVD set consists of all the Davros stories, the already released 4 of the 5 Davros stories as well as the forthcoming Destiny of the Daleks.

Material for Genesis, Resurrection & Revelation is the same as before but Remembrance is now a two disc set with new material.

Big Finish virgins will have something to look forward to in this set as it includes all 7 previously released Davros Big Finish CDs plus a brand new audio The Davros Mission written by Nick Briggs which was specially commissioned for this release.

Since the article does not mention the names of the 7 previously released Davros CDs here they are:
Davros starring Colin Baker
The Juggernauts starring Colin Baker
Terra Firma starring Paul McGann
I, Davros, four part mini-series

This is a release that I definitely looking forward to mainly because of the inclusion of the Big Finish stories. I already have Davros and The Juggernauts but not the others.

I am looking forward to Terra Firma since it has been voted best Big Finish story for 2005 by DWM readers and also interested to hear I, Davros which is the life story of the title character.

I finished watching Robot Part 1 on the DVD and was quite surprised that Barry Letts was in the commentary as his contribution for it has not been noted on the DVD sleeve.

When the Doctor says that he was the Doctor the genuine article, the DVD notes states the definition for the word "article". I find it curious why the notes included the definition for "article" since it did not explain the difference between a sick bay and infirmary when the Doctor and Harry quibbled on the correct way to refer to the medical room that the Doctor was supposed to be in.

The episode was of course Tom's formal debut as the Doctor and the notes revealed that the episode had ratings of 10.8 million which is almost the same of 10.84 million for Chris Eccleston's debut in Rose.

Since Tom lasted seven seasons as the Doctor we can only hope the 10.84 million ratings for Rose is good indication that the current series as a whole would last seven seasons altogether if not longer.

They should Release all of the Hartnell-stuff now,
because by the time they get around to it, The people who where in it
'If they are asked to be on the 'Special-features'.. It is most likely that those people will be dead by the time the BBC get around to it Question

The Time Meddler has now been submitted for classification in the UK.

There is nothing to stop them recording commentaries and interviewing actors and production crews now and releasing them later. For example, Ant Ainley's only commentary was released after he passed away.

So, is the Time Meddler following on from the Silurians/Sea Devils/Warriors of the Deep box set?
