Got myself copies of all the official themes and have picked my favourites and know which ones I hate, wondering if my thoughts are well founded or not  . |

I don't dislike any of them (even the Trial one has grown on me), but in terms of sheer originality and ground-breakingness, you can't beat the original.
Having said that, my current favourite is the Tennant version. I think it's the strings that sell it for me.  |

I guess here we are talking about the music? If so, I'd vote The David Tennat and Peter Davison themes as equal. Both brilliant!
Though in the Tennat version I'd like to here a heavier baseline, but that's a tiny niggley bit.
I love the the current version of the theme tune sounds so full! If you play the very original and then the current version, the original sounds so empty.
If we are also talking about titles, the Jon Pertwee diamond theme is still my fav, I was hoping the new series would be something like that. Titles tend to change every few years, so hears hoping. |

I'd say either the first version or the first Tom Baker one. For me the new series theme would be right down the bottom along with the TV movie one; i just can't stand those damn strings in the new theme!(Sorry Tom N )
I agree about the bass line. Would sound better if it where a bit more prominant. |
