That would be the one. William of Ockham scores yet another point I think. "The simpler of two competing theories is to be preferred."
The main problem being. Is it a simpler explanation that William Hartnell's Doctor had a Granddaughter, ergo at least one son or daughter, or that Paul McGann's Doctor adopted a daughter?
With a little luck, we may find out in series three.... or four, five or six. |

I hope that we never find out for sure. That way I can see it all the way I like it. Not some garbage about the Doctor being half human. |

Loved how they fit in 2 hugs between Rose and the Doctor.
Was hoping something could happen underneath the fireworks.
The parking scene cracked me up.
Would have liked more from the Doctor about him being a dad. How can they just leave it?
Isn't it interesting how kids are always the scary ones? The Ring, The Omen, and of course The Empty Child.
You'd think it'd be harder to dismiss the fact that 80,000 people disappeared, then came back.
Dreading the finale - it's too soon! I know I'll cry. And it'd be really sweet if the Doctor could finally admit he loves Rose.
Note to self - watch Papua New Guinea in the 2012 Olympics.
I was watching Men In Black II before this ep, and couldn't help comparing it to the Doctor. Jay is saving the world from aliens, but has has no one. Then he meets Laura... |

They've left it for forty-or-so years.
Enjoyed this episode. The concept was good, but obviously, as others have said, the ending was average.
Again Rose annoyed the hell out of me. Doctor's helping a poor kid and she just wanders off on her own to snoop around the girl's bedroom - kudos to her mum for wanting her out. 
Also Rose - if everyone's re-appearing where they disappeared - dont look around wildly wondering where the doctor is and why he hasnt come back - IIRC he didnt vanish on the street. Although it would have been cool if he'd left her there...
I thought Chloe and her Mum were pretty good - probably the best developed plot characters this season after (IMO) John Lumic.
Overall this episode had nothing on Fireplace but totally kicked the backside of L&M and Lantern. |

A half-human Doctor isn't needed (thankfully). He can adopt someone from any planet. Or he could have had a child with a Gallifreyan then left in the... liberated.... TARDIS with his granddaughter for whatever reason.
But really, the main reason Susan was his granddaughter would have been that the BBC in 1963 wouldn't want to have a children's show with a crusty old man travelling space and time with a high-school aged student.  |

Finally saw the Mysteries Abound ad just half an hour before the episode started.
Like Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit guest star Shaun Parkes, Nina Sosanya (Trish) was David Tennant's co-star in Casanova. She played one of Casanova's lovers. She is not the only one of David Tennant's on-screen lover to appear with him in Doctor Who as Sarah Parish (Blackpool) will appear in this year's Christmas Special.
Nina like Aliens of London/World War Three guest star Navin Chowdhry was a regular on Teachers.
Written by Matthew Graham one of the creators of Life on Mars (in fact I read SFX's feature on Life On Mars in the Doctor Who special after this episode was aired). This slot was originally given to Stephen Fry with a script called The 1920s but it got moved to next year before being dropped altogether as Fry became busy with other projects. Graham himself was also slated for next year but he too had to drop out as he was busy setting up his own production company.
This took place with the 2012 Olympics about to begin. This I noticed was in the same year that the Ninth Doctor and Rose was in Utah in Dalek.
Car engines not working. Looks like this could have been borrowed from the original series Twilight Zone episode The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street (which was remade for the 2002-03 update).
The Doctor and then Chloe does the Vulcan salute. Star Trek celebrated its 40th anniversary this month on September 8.
Like Father's Day, the Doctor and the TARDIS gets taken out the storyline for a short while.
Stunned upon seeing the empty stadium and the picture of Chloe's dad coming to life.
Very delighted that the Doctor mentioned Papua New Guinea as I grew up there. It's too bad this episode was not broadcast the previous Saturday on September 16 as that is PNG's Independence Day.
The Next Time trailer is WOW.

What I mean is Rose just had this major revelation with the Doctor. She was stunned and everything, then suddenly it didn't matter anymore. |

It's on Thursday nights here in Auckland. It's about the only thing in the entire universe that NZ has the jump on over Australia.
